High Tea With A Real Life Princess
I have quite honestly had a week from hell in parenting terms with a vicious vomiting bug knocking out both the kids & I like dominoes (how my husband who normally catches everything going has evaded it makes my mind boggle!) I have been knee deep in washing bed sheets and having kids taking over my bed, as well as having it myself, which has ultimately left me shattered and VERY behind on this blog post.
It is hard to believe that it was a whole week ago that I had the most blissful afternoon celebrating the up & coming collection with Marie Chantal and M&S. As a mummy a lot of the time you are surviving, getting yourself dressed in record breaking time, doing your makeup whilst your kids empty the contents of your makeup bag all over the floor, eating their leftover food, and generally putting your kids before yourself day in and day out, and we wouldn’t change any of this for the world. But the wonderful company that is the brainchild of Jenny Scott, Mothers Meetings, is here to make mothers everywhere feel themselves again for some of the time, away from the nappies and sterilizing. A network of mothers supporting each other and having fun whilst parenting.
Mothers Meeting has been on my radar since Jenny’s book was published, How To Be A Hip Mama Without Losing Your Cool in 2014, and I have often toyed with going along to an event, but being inherently shy, I've looked from the sidelines following the antics on Instagram & via the newsletter. However when an afternoon tea at The Haymarket Hotel with Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece popped into my inbox I got RSVPing ASAP. And yes I was nervous on the day, and yes I thought about not going, and yes perhaps I used my own little Princess as a bit of a security blanket but am I glad I did…absolutely. Jenny could not have been more welcoming on arrival and straight away I found myself chatting with so many wonderful women and feeling relaxed immediately.
The tea was to celebrate the collaboration that Marie Chantel has created with M&S. Being a huge fan of Marie Chantel kidswear myself and often perusing all the beautiful clothes in their Ledbury Road shop, to find out about this collaboration was exciting, to say the least. Affordable on the purse strings and exquisite quality and designs, when it hits stores on November 1st we will be the first in line. On my lust list for Sienna is the raspberry wool coat, and gorgeous teal tutu to add to the endless tutu collection we currently own. Can a girl ever have enough tutus, though? The boys' clothes were equally as special - if you have any special occasions coming up for the little man in your life he would look like quite the Prince in the clothes from this collection.
As a first Mothers Meeting event to attend I don’t think I could have chosen a better one (despite this one being alcohol free - next up will be attending one with alcohol to really let the mummy hair down, literally, as it is always in a ponytail in the days for ease!) High tea with a real life Princess (and also a mother of FIVE and calm, beautiful and witty - can’t believe I didn’t ask the secret?!), a wonderful afternoon out with my little princess that didn’t involve soft play, and the chance to have adult conversations with like-minded individuals over chocolate cake. Absolute heaven!
Thank-you to Mothers Meetings, M&S & Marie Chantel for having us.
